Download eBook USB Driver for the ETI-2

This page provides information about how to download to your computer the eBook USB Driver that enables your ETI-2 to use the high-speed Internet connection on your computer to access the Online Bookshelf or Bookstore.

After you download and install the eBook USB Driver, just connect one end of the USB cable that came packed with your ETI-2 to your device and the other end to the USB port of a computer connected to the Internet, and you can connect to the Online Bookshelf or Bookstore. Anytime you plug in the USB cable to your ETI-2 (with your computer and eBook turned on), you can quickly and easily access the Online Bookshelf or Bookstore.

Note that Windows 2000 and XP users may allow Windows to automatically install the required driver. The automatic and manual installation methods are both described below.

Current Windows 2000 and XP eBook users may wish to update to the latest USB driver. To update an existing system to the new driver you simply plug in your eBook, turn it on, right click on "eBook" under "Universal Serial Bus controllers" in the Device Manager. When you select "Update Driver..." you will be taken through a sequence similar to the automatic installation described below.



Windows 2000 and XP Users Automatic Installation
(32-bit editions only)

Be sure your computer is running a 32-bit edition of Windows 2000 or XP.

The following instructions enable 32-bit Windows 2000 or XP systems to automatically install the Windows eBook USB Driver. If you prefer to download the driver directly from this site and install the Windows eBook USB Driver manually, follow the steps in the Manual Installation section below.

Start by plugging your eBook device into a USB port on your Windows 2000 or Windows XP machine. When the device is turned on, the Found New Hardware Wizard will appear. Select either the first or second option in the dialog to cause the Wizard to search for the driver.



After clicking Next, the following dialog will appear. Select the first option and click Next.



When the wizard completes, the eBook USB Driver program will launch automatically and the user will be connected.



Windows 2000, 2003, XP or Vista Users Manual Installation

Be sure your computer is running Windows 2000, 2003, XP or Vista.

The eBook USB driver can be installed directly from the Windows Update site that 32-bit editions of Windows 2000 and Windows XP automatically search when new hardware is found on the system. It is not necessary to download the USB Driver from the eBook site as the download will occur automatically if you allow your machine to search the Windows Update site for the driver. To allow Windows to automatically install the Windows eBook USB Driver, follow the steps in the Automatic Installation section above otherwise follow the steps described below.
  • Download the driver:
    • Click the arrow to initiate the download to your PC:
    • Browse the folder where you want to save the installer.
    • Click Save.
  • Run the installation program:
    • Open the folder where you saved the installer.
    • Double-click on the installer (Win_eBookUSB_Installer_4.0.exe), and answer the prompts.
  • Restart your computer if you are prompted to do so.


Windows 98 and ME Users

Be sure your computer is running Windows 98 or ME. To install the Windows eBook USB Driver, follow these steps:
  • Download the driver:
    • Click the arrow to initiate the download to your PC:
    • Browse the folder where you want to save the installer.
    • Click Save.
  • Run the installation program:
    • Open the folder where you saved the installer.
    • Double-click on the installer (Win_eBookUSB_Installer.exe), and answer the prompts.
  • Restart your computer if you are prompted to do so.


Macintosh Users

To install the Macintosh eBook USB Driver on OS X, follow these steps.
  • Download the driver:
    • For Mac OS 10.3 and earlier systems, click here:
    • For Mac OS 10.4 and later systems, click here:
  • The installation program should run after download:
    • Enter your administrator password.
    • Click Continue to install.
    • Choose disk (the System Disk).
    • Click Continue.
  • Click Restart when prompted (when installation is finished).
